Let us begin by saying:

We prefer the first person plural over the singular.

We prefer mystery over journalism.

We prefer clear headed thinking over clearcuts.

We prefer intelligence over stupidity.

We prefer the promise of science fiction over the lies of political reality.

We prefer the art of throwing a memento into the ocean over throwing away one’s life on accumulating possessions.

We prefer the hard work of caring over the nonchalance of indifference.

We love the word grifter and grifters in connection to the President and his family over calling them anything else. It really has been one giant con. But not a classy one like in The Sting movie. No. This was a base and debasing con job.

We prefer crafting from the ocean’s detritus over crafting with objects made in China.

We prefer making cards over ones printed in China.

We prefer the face to face conversation over the facelessness of text messaging.

We prefer kids playing hide and seek outdoors over kids scrolling through games on their tablets.

We prefer the first person plural over the singular.

We prefer mystery over journalism.

We prefer rappers who want to overthrow the American government over those who cozy up to Wall Street and curry favor with a white dictator who hates black people.

We prefer print shops over Apple stores.

We prefer elections where the candidate who wins the most votes, wins the office over whatever idiocy the electoral college is.

We prefer professional wrestling over professional politics. We prefer soups over steaks.

We prefer doing double takes with human beings over double crosses.

We always prefer people who can admit error and move forward to rectify the error, if possible, over people who cannot change their minds.

We prefer hearts of glass over hearts of stone and heart of glass is a much better song than hearts of stone.

We prefer animals in our dreams to teach us something useful over celebrities in our dreams that make us dumber.

We prefer reading a philosopher who can help us understand why Prince is dead and Dick Cheney is alive over one who can’t.

We prefer living in a state that legalized magic mushrooms over ones that still incarcerate people for using cannabis.

We prefer rain over sun….period.

Let us begin by saying:

We prefer the first person plural over the singular.

We prefer mystery over journalism.

We prefer helping people over judging them. The former takes so much more work, but it is the best work.

We prefer people who are alive and ambulatory today because of vaccinations to acknowledge that fact and don’t become opposed to vaccinations for no intelligent scientific reason.

We prefer reasonable thinking over rabid thinking, debunking over delusion.

We prefer eating plants over eating animals. When you eat factory-raised animals you are complicit in the cruel death of animals and the cruel working conditions of the workers who process death and die as a result.

We prefer sweet nothings over sweet nihilism.

We prefer those classic rock and roll songs with double negatives over terrible modern country songs with cornpone slang phrases.

We prefer the voice of Barry White to sermonize to us about love over the voices of preachers and politicians.

We prefer currency that includes the line: in magic mushrooms we trust over currency with the line In God We Trust.

We really lament that America didn’t get it right after the Civil War and execute all the rebellious ruling class including the ultimate traitor, Robert E. Lee, and confiscate their property and distribute it to African Americans. If we had, you wouldn’t recognize this country today. We might even be just.
